Mary Patricia (Geherin) Sincebaugh

Mary Patricia “Patty” Geherin Sincebaugh, affectionately known as “Gert”, of Auburn, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024. She was 76 and was surrounded by her loving family. Born in Auburn on October 3, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lorraine Woods Geherin. Patty was a graduate of Nazareth College, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. In addition to raising a large family, Patty was employed for over 35 years teaching at both Saint Peter and Paul and St. Mary’s Schools, and as a dental assistant with Auburn Dental. 

Patty‘s passion was her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing bridge, reading and watching football, particularly Notre Dame and the Buffalo Bills. A lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, she enjoyed socializing with friends and helping with events. Her happiest moments were when her grandchildren came with their friends and sat at the kitchen table with the family for many hours on end. Her philosophy was to help and cater to the needs of others, especially with food and drink. She left behind a legacy of people who loved, respected, and cared for her and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, John P. Sincebaugh; a beloved sister, Regina Corbett (Michael) Broderick of Pittsford, NY; six children: Timothy (Wanda), Amy (Gary) Merrill, Daniel (Jill), Martin (Kelly), Dennis (Kelly) and Michael (Stephanie); 14 beloved grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved stepmother, Jane Fontine Geherin and a brother, Gerard Geherin.

Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Church, 85 North St, Auburn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours for Patty will be conducted Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the White Chapel Funeral Home, Inc., 197 South St., Auburn.
