Agnes S. Zane 92 of Auburn passed away Monday April 30, 2018 at The Commons on St. Anthony. The daughter of the late Adam and Mary Harnak Hanobik, Agnes was born in McKees Rocks, PA. on December 31, 1925.
For over twenty years she had been employed as an Administrative Assistant, Department of Sociology, University of Maryland, in College Park, MD.
She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart/St. Ann’s Church (formerly St. Bernard's, Riverdale, MD), a member of the VFW Post 1975, The Knights of Columbus (Woman’s Auxiliary), The Birthday Club, and had previously volunteered her time as a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader.
She enjoyed art, especially painting, and was an avid reader.
Agnes is survived by her two daughters, Janet Zane and Daria (John Daria) Zane, a son Martin Zane, two grandchildren, Rachel and Hayden Zane, many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Zane was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Joseph J. Zane, two sisters, Mary Steiner, and Anne Marsen, and a brother, Joseph Hanobik.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 am in St. Ann’s Church, Owasco. Burial will be in Cheltenham Veteran’s Cemetery, MD. There will also be a Memorial Service held on June 16, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Blessed Sacrament Church, 3630 Quesada St NW, Washington DC 20015.
