Arlene Howland Obituary

Arlene Howland, 96, of Auburn, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 3, 2019. Arlene was born on Oct. 25, 1922 to Henry and Clara Fennessy. She married John Howland in 1947. He predeceased her in 2017. Arlene was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Candlelight Club and loved the company of her special friends there. She was a woman who truly loved God, life and her family. She is survived by her daughters, Ann McCarthy, Mary Howland, Joan Macholl and son John (Cheryl) Howland; grandchildren, Joseph McCarthy, Michael (Jennifer) McCarthy, Margaret McCarthy, Bryan (Trisha) Howland, Chrissy Macholl, Jimmy Macholl, and Cathy Macholl; her great grandchildren, Bryson and Cole Howland; her sisters Gloria Offenburg, Helen Bush, Marilyn Gowers, Jean Carter and brothers Tom and Bruce Fennessy.

Besides her husband John, she was predeceased by her grandson John Scott Howland; son in law Patrick McCarthy; her sister Rita Horning and brothers Bob, Dick, and Donald (Butch) Fennessy.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am., Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 in Sacred Heart Church, Auburn. Burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn.
