Audrey Sharpsteen Obituary

Audrey Jean Hargett Sharpsteen, 63 of East Cayuga St., Moravia, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. Born In Auburn on January 30, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Marilyn Ryan Hargett. She was a graduate of Moravia High School Class of 1974 and was employed for 32 years at Auburn Community Hospital. Audrey was a lifelong community member of Moravia. She was an active volunteer for over 20 years with Four Town Ambulance where she served as Captain and Car 1 for 10 years. During those years she was awarded several recognitions for outstanding achievements. Including the W.E. Killbourne Life Saving award in 1979, 89 and 90. A Proclamation by the Town of Moravia was created for Audrey Jean Sharpsteen Day dated December 6, 2002, in recognition of her service to her community. She put many hours into Four Town and was one of the last Volunteer Medics to respond 24/7. Audrey was a great asset to the organization, following her parents legacy as Charter Members. Her legacy will live on forever in ourhearts and never be forgotten. When she was not volunteering, Audrey was working at Auburn Community Hospital. To her it was not merely a job, the time spent was an extension of her passion to care for others in need. She loved her job, and her life as a volunteer. She was a wonderful mother to her family, volunteer squad, and her night shift ED. “To know her was to love her”. • Samuel Rogers Audrey will be deeply missed, she had a heart of gold and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Nicole (Michael) Jones, Michael (Clarice) Burgman, Thomas (April) Burgman and Ronica (Josh) Weeks; her siblings, Danny (Terri) Hargett, Shelia (Al) Kemp, Lorrie (Brian) Hilliard, Steven (Lorry) Hargett, and Melissa Brown; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Eric Brown. A Celebration of Life will Be held Sunday, April 14th from noon -5pm at the Moravia Fire Dept. 38 Keeler Ave Moravia. In lieu of flowers, donations in Audrey’s name may be made to Four Town Ambulance, 109 Main St. Moravia, The Moravia Fire Dept. or Auburn Community Hospital Foundation, Inc 17 Lansing St. Auburn.
