Ellen J. (Merritt) McDowell

Ellen J. McDowell 69, of Basswood Road Auburn passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital Syracuse, on Tuesday October 16, 2018.
Ellen was the daughter of the late, Arlen and Betty Dutcher Merritt. Born in Auburn on December 21, 1948, she was a graduate of Port
Byron High School and also Auburn Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She had previously worked as an RN with
Albany Medical Center.
She was fond of reading and loved gardening.
Ellen is survived by her daughter, Leslie McDowell, of Auburn, a son Matthew McDowell and his wife Rose of New Jersey, three
sisters, Cynthia Laraway and her husband Edward, Arlene Canale, and Joan Scanlon all  of Auburn, her in laws June and
Ralph McDowell of Port Byron nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McDowell was predeceased by her husband Gary McDowell on April 2, 2002.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at 5pm in White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive Weedsport. Burial will be in
Pine Hill Cemetery, Throop. Friends are invited to call on the family Friday from 3pm to 5pm prior to services.
