John H. Stryker ,77, of Auburn passed away suddenly on Wednesday August 1, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. John was born in Auburn on June 23, 1941, the son of the late Harold and Lena Frances (Morgan) Stryker.
John retired from Crouse Hinds in Syracuse after 32 years in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He also loved stock car races and repairing cars. Only a phone call away, he was more than willing and happy to help his family and friends with jobs around their houses.
He was predeceased by his devoted wife of 42 years, the former Sharon A.Johns in 2005; by his brother, Robert F. Stryker, a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient; and his sister Leola Vasile.
John is survived by his loving family, his daughters, Lynn M. Harter of FL, Sandi J. Reed (Chuck Adams) of Auburn and Penny (Jeffrey) Pomeroy of Jamesville; and his son, Robert J. Stryker of Auburn;
Known as "Poppy," he is survived by his cherished grandchildren Megan (Andrew) Hares of Auburn, Alyssa Reed of FL, Cody and Robert Stryker of Auburn, Mitchell and Patrick Harter of FL., Emily, Turner, and Alex Pomeroy of Jamesville; and 3 great-grandchildren
Services will be held on Monday August 6, 2018 at 1:30pm at the White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South Street Auburn. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 pm. A Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, following the services, for family members only.
