Joseph M. Ostrowski, 93, of Weedsport, passed away at the Matthew House on August 29, 2018. Born in Lysander, NY on November 21, 1924, Joseph was the son of the late Benjamin and Magdalen Harajnczk Ostrowski. As a child, Joseph served as an altar boy in Jordan, where he grew up and attended school. He held many jobs throughout the years, including, dairy farmer, school bus driver, Cato Town Justice and nursery owner. Joseph enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, camping and planting trees. He was an avid woodworker and loved to travel. He enjoyed many vacations with his wife of 72 years, Gwendolyn and their four children. Often times, he and his wife would go on impromptu vacations, such as Maine for a lobster dinner. It was important for Joseph to spend quality time together with his wife and family and experience the joys in life. Joseph is survived by his daughters, Gail (Frank) Smith and Sandra (Kenneth) Ray, his son, Joseph Ostrowski Jr. (Michael Casamassima), five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Gwendolyn, his son, Edward Ostrowski and his sisters, Mary Kenney, Josephine Salerno and Margaret Boone. A mass of Christian celebration will be held in St. Joseph's Church, Weedsport, on September 5th at 10:30 am. The burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Weedsport.
