Josephine Salva Catalfano, 92, of Boyle Center died Sunday September 9, 2018. With her children
by her side, Josephine passed away at the Matthew House of Auburn, early Sunday morning.
She was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Rosaria Leanza Salva, and born August 2, 1926 in Auburn.
A graduate of Auburn’s Central High School Class of 1944, she was a long time parishioner of St. Mary’s Church.
For many years, Josephine worked in the cafeteria of the former St. Mary’s School on Clymer Street. She had also
worked at the former Nolan’s Shoes Store, West Middle School Library and Seymour Library; retiring at the age of 88. She was the treasurer of the Rosary & Scapular Society and she was the treasurer and President of the Auburn Mynderse Rice American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed reading, playing cards and scrabble with friends at the Boyle Center, bowling, and she was an avid New
York Yankee Fan.
Josephine is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (William) Stoddard, and Nancy English (Cherie Grant) her three sons,
David (Jackie) Catalfano, Robert (Ann) Catalfano, and Thomas (Angela) Catalfano, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a sister Rose Lamont, and a brother Alphonso Salva.
Mrs. Catalfano was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Catalfano and a brother Thomas Salva.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9: 30 am in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery,
Fleming. Friends are invited to call on the family Thursday from 4 to 7 at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South Street Auburn.
