Marguerite (Maggie) (Bucky) Smith, 86, of Auburn passed away peacefully on July 26, 2019. Maggie was born on October 3, 1932 in Auburn to the late William and Esther Hayden Dickow. In her early years Maggie was a head cheerleader and also graduated from Central High School. She was co-owner of Arties Hot Dog Stand on Owasco Lake, where people would pack the place on weekends for the best fish fry’s and hot dogs. She also enjoyed gardening and driving cars for the different dealerships around town. In the winters, the family would go to Florida where she grew to love the beach.
Maggie is survived by her children, Laurie (John) Scriven and Timothy (Terrie) Walsh, her son-in-law, John Gardner ; her step children, Marsha (Art) Chalupnicki, Peter (Edie) Smith, and Manette Becker; her grandchildren , John (Adeline) Scriven, Kevin (Stephanie) Scriven, Trevor Walsh and Ryan Treat, her great grandchildren, Hannah Scriven and Hayden Scriven and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Maggie was predeceased by her husband, David Smith and her daughters, Holly Walsh Gardner and Janna Walsh.
Calling hours for Maggie will be held on Thursday, August 1st from 4-7pm at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St. Auburn. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11am at the funeral home.
