Mary Jane Pitcher, 78, of State Route 90N, Cayuga, passed away on August 28, 2014, at her home, with her family by her side.
Mary Jane was born in Auburn on October 26, 1935. She was the daughter of Courtney and Marie Cook. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Walter Pitcher, as well as her sister, Mildred Burkhalter and brother, David Cook, and a life long friend, Lois Cobb.
Mary Jane (also known as Cookie) was employed by H&R Block in Auburn. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 339 in Union Springs, and a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, of Union springs. Mary Jane enjoyed reading and cooking. Most of all she loved her family. She was also known for her delicious homemade bread.
Mary Jane is survived by her children, Deborah Hitchcock of Lincoln, Alabama, Douglas Pitcher of Syracuse, Leaine Baird (Ken) of Kingwood, Texas, Lori Casler (Mark) of Auburn; her grandchildren, Amanda Hitchcock (Bill) of Auburn, Colleen Hitchcock of Auburn, Nicole Baird (Eric) of Orange Beach, Alabama, Nichelle Baird (Adam) of Spring, Texas, Nathaniel Baird (Mariah) of Kingwood, Texas, Kyle Casler (Melissa) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Mara Casler of Auburn; great-grandchildren, Bethanni Donaldson, Dakota Lupien, Kaydon Hitchcock, Kylee DeAngelis, Kash DeAngelis, Christopher Machacek, and Rowan Borick; two nieces, Dawn Macholl (Brian) and Kim Pitcher; and a nephew, Bruce Burkhalter(Jenny).
Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014, from 3:00-5:00 pm,at Trinity United Church of Christ in Union Springs, with services being held directly following calling hours, with pastor Shelley Pantoliano officiating. All are welcome to join the family for reception to celebrate Mary Jane's life at the church following the service.
