Richard C. Dunlap, 87 of N. Main Street Port Byron passed away Thursday March 28, 2019 at Auburn Community
Hospital.
Richard was born in Van Buren, New York on March 17, 1932 to the late, Thomas and Luella Miller Dunlap.
He was a proud Veteran of the US Army, having served as a Paratrooper during the Korean War. He retired from The Town
Of Mentz where he had worked for the highway department for many years. As a veteran he was a member of the VFW of
Montezuma, John Cool Post #257 of the American Legion, The Korean War Veteran’s Central New York Chapter.
Richard enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, he was a talented woodworker, enjoyed coffee with friends at the local diner,
and loved his dogs.
He survived by his two daughters, Sharon LaFromboise, and her husband Joseph of Red Creek, Sandra Fleming of Port
Byron, two granddaughters, Danielle LaFromboise, and Tabitha (Matthew) Fleming Weinerth, 5 great grandchildren,
two sisters, Jane Juhl of Port Byron, and Marilyn Kocur of Throop, a sister in law, Nancy Dunlap of Port Byron, nieces and
nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Iola Wandle Dunlap, an infant son, Kenneth Allen Dunlap, a sister
Romelda “Rose” Clark, two brothers, Donald and Thomas Dunlap.
Private services, with Military Honors will be held for the family at White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Dr. Weedsport.
