Robert J. Casey, 86, of Auburn passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, surrounded by his loving family and ready to be reunited with the love of his life, Helen. Bob leaves a legacy for love, devotion, and kindness to his children, grandchildren, and people in general. His personality was infectious; his friendliness and kindness were noticed by all who met him. His children would like to acknowledge and thank their Dad for his unending love and always, always being the perfect Dad. Born in Auburn on November 11, 1932, Robert was the son of the late Paul and Veronica Raesler Casey. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Bob was employed by Alco in Auburn for his career. While at Alco, Bob was Union President for the office staff. After retirement he worked at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Besides his family and career, Bob’s love of children was shown in his ability to coach baseball for many years. Surviving are his children Doug (Linda), Vicky (Carlos) Rovito, Denise (Bill) Chapman, and Kelly (Todd) Albrecht, grandchildren—Ashley, Derek, Danielle (Mike), Craig (Diana), Lexie, Tyler, Sydney, and special people Jill and Elizabeth and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his brother, Paul Casey, sisters Jane DeMare, Betty Cullen, and Veronica Grant. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 23, 11:30 am in Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Bob Casey’s memory. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff, nurses and doctors for their kindness and compassionate care at Auburn Community Hospital.
