Roger Basha 92, of Silver Street Road Auburn passed away Tuesday November 27, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.
The son of the late Albert and Estella Umbel Basha, Roger was born July 27, 1926 in Uniontown, PA.
He proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps. during World War II, the US Army Occupation of Germany after the war and in the US Air Force during the Korean War. For most of his adult life, he engaged in some phase of the Automotive
Business. He owned and operated several auto garages and dealerships in Auburn until forced to retire due to medical conditions.
He was a Fourth Degree Member of The Knights of Columbus, and was elected twice to the Auburn School Board and served as Board President in 1981-1982. Roger was a convert to the Catholic Church, and was strong in his faith all his life.
Roger is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores a. Malec Basha, whom he married May 2, 1953 in St. Mary’s Church, Auburn, his four children Dr. Roger F. (Katherine) Basha, of Charleston, SC., Mary Beth (Kathy Miles) Basha, of Dewitt, Amy L. (Michael) Rich of
Pasadena, MD., and Richard G. Basha of Auburn, and grandsons, Thomas and Ian Basha of Charleston, SC., nieces and nephews.
Mr. Basha was predeceased by his siblings, John Basha, Elizabeth Semonick, Anna, Gladys, Lynn & Albert (Irene) Basha.
Funeral services will be held privately for the family, with Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fleming.
Funeral arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South Street Auburn.
