Ruth E Wright

Ruth E. Wright, 94, formerly of Rude St. Weedsport, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019, at The Commons on St. Anthony.

Mrs. Wright was born in Lisbon, NY, on January 13, 1925, to the late Ernest and Rachel Robinson Campbell.

Ruth received her Master’s in Education from Syracuse University, and went on to teach Home Economics at Weedsport High School from 1957 until her retirement in 1980, she also taught evening adult education for many years. During the summer months, Ruth owned and operated Lakeside Lodge, 7th Lake in  Inlet, NY for over 50 years. She loved the time she spent in the Adirondacks, and made many  friendships that lasted a lifetime.  She was a member of the Syracuse Women’s Club, Weedsport Senior Citizens, Weedsport Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha. Her past pleasures were quilting, sewing, making rugs and reminiscing with her former students.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Robert) Schram; her sons, Douglas (Cynthia)Wright and Richard (Rebecca) Wright; her brother, Edward (Joanna) Campbell; her sisters, Vivian (James) Baptista , Joyce (Edward) Smith and Sandra (Raymond) Noble; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Wright in 1964

A funeral service will be held 11am on Friday, May 31st at White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Dr. Weedsport. Visitation will be held prior from 10-11am.

Burial will take place at Weedsport Rural Cemetery following the funeral .
