WEEDSPORT | Warren R. Carpenter, 91, of Rude Street, Weedsport, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019, at The Commons on St. Anthony Street.
Mr. Carpenter was born in South Onondaga, N.Y. on Sept. 19, 1927, to the late Charles B. and Esther Wilcox Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter proudly served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from the former Consolidated Gas Corporation as a gas measurement specialist. Warren was a long standing member and former commander of the Clark-Heck American Legion Post #568, of Weedsport, N.Y.
Warren is survived by his loving family, his children, Gregg (Jolene) Carpenter, of Auburn, Kim (Jo) Fey, of Weedsport, Steve (Julie) Carpenter, of Camillus, Mark Carpenter, of Auburn, and Shari Carpenter Olmstead, of Newfield; 10 beloved grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his four sisters, Jean Thompson, of Manlius, Jodelle Fletcher, Daurice Carpenter, and Alison Carpenter, all of Syracuse.
In addition to his parents, Warren was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty L. Carpenter in 2010.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive, Weedsport. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 15, at the funeral home. Mr. Carpenter will be laid to rest next to his wife, Betty in Weedsport Rural Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow at the legion.
