Maria DeBottis Guiffrida, longtime resident of Auburn passed peacefully on her 95th birthday, July 8, 2017 in Tampa, Florida with her children by her side.  Affectionately known as Mary, she was born July 8, 1922, the eldest child of Anthony and Rose Marie VanAcora DeBottis.
A graduate of Port Byron High School, Mary enlisted in the military service where she proudly served in the Marine Corps during World War II and is honored in the Women’s War Memorial in Washington, D.C.  She lovingly raised two children and upon retirement from Auburn Memorial Hospital enjoyed golf and bowling where she was a member of The 600 Club.
Leaving an amazing legacy of family and friendship, surviving are her daughter Lynn Maggio and husband Michael, son Alfred Guiffrida and wife Nancy and grandson Michael Anthony Maggio.  Sisters Philomena Saum and Josephine Christiano and husband JC.  Brothers Lewis DeBottis and wife Mafalda, Anthony DeBottis and wife Norma, sister-in-law Betty DeBottis and many loving nieces and nephews.  Mary was predeceased by brother Peter DeBottis and sisters Rose Halstead, Angelina Keenly and husband Harold and Helen Riccio and husband Michael.
A memorial service will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc, 197 South St., Auburn, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017  at 3:00 PM.  Mary's family will receive friends and relatives from 1:00-2:45 PM at the funeral home, followed by military honors to be conducted at 2:50 PM, prior to services.
