Andrea Anna Hucko Dahl, 80, of Auburn, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on March 2, 2025, at Van Duyn Nursing and Rehabilitation in Syracuse, NY. Born in Auburn, NY on September 3, 1944, Labor Day, interrupting her parents, Andrew and Frances Maitland Hucko and brother Steve's picnic.
Andrea's family and friends were always in her heart and no matter what, she strived to do right by them. They were her life. She became a member of the Federated Church, Port Byron as a child. Artwork and her love of horses were a constant in her life. She belonged to many organizations fulfilling those interests, such as the Empire Appaloosa Association, the American Legion Auxiliary, John Cool Post 257, Port Byron NY, The Central NY Bluebirds Camping Group and The Red Hats, where you dressed in purple and red, and the main objective was to have fun! She loved camping at Cherry Grove Campgrounds, Wolcott, NY in the 5th wheel, that was home away from home. Traveling and seeing new and familiar destinations was such an adventure to her. She especially loved going to Maui, Hawaii with her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Sara Hucko and White Lake, Ontario, Canada, with her husband, Harold and friends, Walt and Elli Kolczynski. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, and you didn't dare interrupt her when she was watching them play a game on TV! Go Bills!!
Andrea grew up in Port Byron, NY. She graduated from Port Byron Central School in 1962 and Mohawk Valley Community College, Utica, NY, in 1964, earning an associate's degree. Over the years she held many jobs. Her last was at Midstate Mutual Insurance Company, Auburn, NY. She retired from there in 2011.
Andrea married Harold R. Dahl in 2004. Life now included a combined total of 8 children between the two of them who were a great constant in their lives. Harold shared her passion for horses and loved to trail ride with her. Eventually, they both found a new passion, owning and camping in their 5th wheel trailer. They eventually ended up camping at Cherry Grove Campgrounds in Wolcott, NY as seasonals, for over 10 years.
