Andrew S. Maltese

Andrew S. Maltese of Weedsport passed away unexpectedly on August 28th after a brief illness. He was born in NYC on December 20th, 1943, to Paul and Frances (Scafidi) Maltese. He retired from Kemper insurance as a Worker’s Compensation Supervisor in 1999. He was employed by the NY State Workers Compensation Board as a fraud investigator. He served as judge for the Town of Brutus at the time of his death. He relocated to Weedsport with his family and became very active in the community. He was involved in Weedsport youth baseball programs and served as president of Weedsport Little League. He was the Chairman of the Cayuga County Conservative Committee. He served as Trustee and Mayor of the Village of Weedsport. He also served as a Village Judge. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 12223. And was very active in the Weedsport Community Theater.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen (Goretskie) and children Andrew J (Amy Gould), Holly Anne (Chris Rose), and predeceased by son Michael Paul (2021) (Darlene Lombardi). He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren. Also survived by brother Serphin R. Maltese, and several nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by 2 beloved Golden Retrievers, Cassie and Remy.

Calling hours will be held Monday September 2nd from 2-6 PM at the White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive, Weedsport. His life will be celebrated with a mass in St. Joseph's Church, Weedsport on Tuesday September 3rd at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Weedsport.
