Anthony Atkins Obituary


Anthony G. “Tony” Atkins, 80 of Weedsport, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025 at his home, following a lengthy illness. Born May 4, 1944, he was the son of the late Donald G. and Elizabeth A. St. John Atkins. He was a graduate of Weedsport High School, Class of 1962 and was employed as an electrician with Carrier Corp., retiring from McQuay International. Anthony retired from the Air Force National Guard after over 20 years of faithful service. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and camping, as well as traveling and hiking. In his earlier years, Anthony was involved with competitive shooting and the Boy Scouts.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Laura M. Jones Atkins; one son, Mark Atkins (LeeAnn Stock-Atkins); daughter, Ann Marie Atkins (Ross Andrews); stepson, Lonnie C. Mettler; stepdaughter, Sheila Marie Mettler; brothers Thomas J. Atkins, John Atkins (Mary), Donald J. Atkins (Mary); sister, Andrea J. Atkins (Ken); several grandchildren; great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. 
 

A calling hour will be conducted Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 11:00 am until Noon in the White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive, Weedsport, followed by a funeral service at Noon. Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery, Weedsport. 

 

Contributions may be made in memory of Tony to the Jordan Ambulance, 1 N. Hamilton St., Jordan, NY 13080.
