Anthony "Tony" Gallaro, 93, formerly of Connect55+ in Auburn, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025, at The Cottages in Cicero.
Born on September 23, 1931, Tony was the only child of the late Joseph and Frances Gallaro and was a lifelong resident of Auburn.
After graduating from college, Tony proudly served his country in the U.S. Army’s 749th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion, contributing to the national air defense during the Cold War.
A gifted chemical engineer, Tony spent his professional career with The Sylvania Company, GT&E Products Corporation, and U.S. Philips Corporation. His innovative work earned him 28 patents, many of which improved the safety and performance of television tubes—helping deliver clearer and less distorted images.
Tony was a devout member of St. Francis Church, where his deep faith and dedication to prayer and fellowship enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
In retirement, Tony embraced life’s simple pleasures: sharing time with cherished family and friends, nurturing his garden, and expressing his creativity through photography.
He will be remembered for his quiet brilliance, unwavering faith, and the gentle way he enriched the lives of those who knew him.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Funeral Mass to be offered Monday, July 21, 2025 at 11:00am in St. Francis Church. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
