Barbara I. Rooker

Barbara I. Rooker, 88 of Port Byron, passed away July 4, 2025 in Auburn Community Hospital. Born July 3, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ida Snyder, and was a life resident of the area. Many years ago, she was employed at The Dunn and McCarthy Shoe Factory as well as 4M Precision. Lastly, she worked as a nurses aid at the Cayuga County Nursing Home. Barbara was an avid camper and thoroughly enjoyed Wheel of Fortune, reading romance novels and doing crossword puzzles. Most importantly, she was a tremendously, loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. 

She survived by her son Ernie Rooker (Kimberly); Daughter-law Sharon Rooker; sisters Edna, Duncan, Elizabeth Verity and Sandra Goulden; special grandson and caregiver, Christopher Rooker (Sarah) as well as the remaining grandchildren, Tina Harvey, Nicole Melie (Charles), Matthew Rooker, Carrie Rooker, Kevin Champion, Brian Sanderson, Josh Rooker (Tiera), Jennifer Labulis (Brad), Michael Rooker; great grandchildren, Cassandra Rooker, Lukas Rooker, Nate Rooker, Mariah Harvey, Connor Harvey, Charles Melie, Sawyer Rooker, Allana Rooker, Riley Rooker, Caroline Rooker and James Labulis; and great-great grandchildren Abby and Kelvin. 

In addition to her parents and best friend and love of her life, Charles Rooker, who passed in 1998, Barbara is predeceased by one daughter, Christine Juhl; one son Chuckie Rooker, grandchildren Jessica Juhl, Paul Harvey; several siblings; and daughter-in-law Mary Rooker.

Calling hours for Barbara will be conducted Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in the White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Dr., Weedsport. There will be a celebration of life immediately following at Calimeri Post in Auburn. A graveside service will be offered Monday, July 14, at 10:30 am in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
