Cheryl N. (Howd) Platt, 75 of Route 90, Locke, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025 at her home. Born August 2, 1950 in Cortland, she was the daughter of the late Alberta and Charles Howd. Cheryl was a 1968 graduate of Moravia High School as well as a 1984-1985 dual degree graduate of Cayuga Community College. Prior to her retirement in 2017, she was employed for 32 years at Cornell University.
Cheryl had a love for her flower gardens, crafting, for her pets, watching plays, visiting with friends, volunteering at the Moravia thrift shop, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son Kyle J. Platt (Ann Marie Petrosino); daughter Heather D. Platt; her four grandchildren Mitchell J. Platt, Devin S. Platt, Griffen T. David, and Gabriella "Toby" David; siblings Charles “Stan” Howd and Dale (Howd) Weeks; and additional extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Cheryl was predeceased by her sister, Lorri S. (Howd) Ahlert, and nephew Eric M. Davenport.
Per Cheryl’s wishes, there will be no services. Instead, the family would like to encourage the donation on Cheryl's behalf to help combat cancer, multiple sclerosis, and diabetes.
