Cindy Marie (Schramm) Smith

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cindy Marie (Schramm) Smith aged 58, of Syracuse NY, who passed away on June 26, 2025, peacefully in her sleep.

Cindy was born on May 15, 1967, in Auburn, NY to Donald and Judie Schramm. She grew up in Throop, NY and attended Port Byron Central School. She went on to work as a paralegal for several years before moving on to administrative work for the state. She spent several years at Auburn Correctional Facility where she met the love of her life, Kevin Lavin. 

She was known for her kindness, compassion, sense of humor, and free spirit. She enjoyed camping with her family, curling up with good book, attending rock and roll concerts, and spending time with loved ones. She loved watching her grandson play and explore the world around him in her later days. She was a devoted partner, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her loud and infectious laugh lit up the whole room. 

Cindy is survived by her loving partner Kevin Lavin, daughter Margaret Smith (Cody Flick), mother Judie Schramm, siblings Don Schramm, Meghan (Paul) Wilson, Greg (Tammy) Schramm, grandson Caden Flick, and her nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her father Donald Schramm Sr., son Riley Sawyer, and sister-in-law Kathleen Schramm. 

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2025, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm followed by services at 12:15 pm in St. Joseph’s Church, Weedsport, NY. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Cindy’s name to the Francis House in Syracuse, New York who provided her loving care in her final moments.
