Craig J Smart

Craig J. Smart passed away on the evening of July 18th, with his loving family by his side.  Craig was born in Syracuse, NY to Margaret (Ball) Smart and the late Sylvio J. Smart.  He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Ginny DiLallo Santimaw, whom he loved like a mother. Craig is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Toni (DiLallo) Smart, and his two children that he loved with all his heart, Ashley O’Hara (Jarrett) and Francis (Sarah Angerer); sisters Deanna Zimmer and Valerie Smart, and brother Darryl Smart; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Craig was a proud member of the Weedsport Rod and Gun Club, where they would solve the problems of the world while enjoying a cold PBR, and a game of pitch. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

 If you knew Craig, you knew that above all his family came first and there were many friends who he also considered family.

The family wishes to thank Sabrina Borst, his Angel/Nurse from Centerwell who provided great care and comfort to both Craig and Toni; the ER and CCU staff of Auburn Community Hospital, especially his two Angel/Nurses Krysten and Heather, and to Dr. Jeffery LeGrett and staff.

Calling hours will be held at the White Chapel Funeral Home in Weedsport, NY on Wednesday July 24th from 4-6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 25th at 11 am. at St. Joseph’s Church in Weedsport, NY. A private burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Auburn, NY.
