Dale R Yates, Esq

Dale R. Yates, Esq. of Auburn, NY, formerly of Skaneateles, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from complications of long-term Alzheimer's Disease. Mr. Yates was born on April 19, 1949, in Syracuse and spent his childhood in Skaneateles, where he graduated in 1967. 

Dale was the vice president of his senior class and active in basketball and soccer. He went on to graduate from St. Lawrence University in 1971 and Albany Law School in 1974. He worked for Senator Hausbeck while in law school and established a private law firm in Weedsport, where he continued to work until 2020. Dale also worked as an Assistant District Attorney under Paul Carbonaro for several years during the 1980's. He was greatly liked and respected by the judges, attorneys, clerks and everyone he had the pleasure of working with.

Dale considered the law more of a vocation than just a job. He respected people from all walks of life; regardless of their ability to pay and he knew how to draw out the best in people in law and in life.

Dale was a dedicated and supportive father to his two sons, and regularly emphasized values of hard work, integrity, and humility to his children. He was always present at his children's school and sporting events, and he passed his unique and playful sense of humor on to both his children and grandchildren.

His favorite activities as an adult were golfing with his children and sharing meals in local restaurants with family and friends. He also loved attending sporting events with his children and grandchildren as he got older and was a dedicated son to his mother and father during their life.

Dale is survived by his sons, David (Autumn) Yates of Reston, VA and Sean Yates of Auburn, and his grandchildren, Annaleigh and Sloane. 

He was predeceased by his parents Donovan and Doris Yates. 

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 19th from 5-7pm at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St. Auburn. A memorial service will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, May 20th at White Chapel Funeral Home.
