Edward Waldron Obituary

Edward R. Waldron, 70, of Springport, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones on July 23, 2024. Born in Auburn on July 26, 1953, Edward was the son of the late Gordon and Audrey (Richards) Waldron. Ed was a hardworking man. He started his auto mechanic career many years ago at Oakwood Service Center. He then worked for O’Hara Machinery and Farm as well as Beacon Milling Company. He also spent many years helping his father on the family farm. In 1984, he opened his Pride & Joy Country Auto and Farm Service, which he proudly operated for 40 years.

He loved his job, even on the days he didn’t and was the master of the “Walk Away” method. He mentored so many throughout the years and taught many people the craft he was so proud of. He was always willing to help anyone in need and always loved a project.

Ed was an avid Chevy car and truck lover and was the happiest when he was at his farm driving tractors and machinery. He could fix anything that you put in front of him.

He loved riding his motorcycle, camping, boating, skiing with his children and going on adventures with his family.

His wife, kids, family and his friends were loved unconditionally. He married the love of his life in July 1976 and they would have celebrated 48 years together on July 31st 2024. His wife and children were the most important thing in his life and he did everything to make them happy.

He loved “The Meadows”, his shop and his barn. He had the most infectious laugh around and was always smiling even through the hardest times.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Waldron; his children, Rebecca Waldron and Gregory Waldron; his brother-in-law, Ronald (Cynthia) Jones; his sisters-in-law, Janet (Jim) White, Judy Shellenberger and Melinda Waldron; his brother and sister and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by many friends that he considered family and his grand-dog Winnie.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his brother, Mike Waldron, his in-laws Harry and Winifred Jones, his brother-in-law, Alan Shellenberger and his sister-in-law, Fran Hollands.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Upstate Cancer Center family and the staff on 10H for all the love and wonderful care they provided Ed throughout his long and courageous battle with Leukemia.
