Edwin James Short

Edwin James Short, 86, of Auburn, passed away on June 22, 2025, at the Commons on St. Anthony. Born in Auburn on October 9, 1938, Ed was the son of the late Harold and Florence Bailey Short. He proudly served in the United States Army. Ed was a truck driver for many years, retiring from Red Star. He enjoyed playing video poker and scratch offs. Along with his wife, Eleanor, Ed enjoyed going to different casinos to try his luck. They had visited casinos in Canada, Las Vegas and locally, Turning Stone, and Del Lago. 

Ed is survived by his wife, Eleanor Short; his daughter, Shannon (Terry) Manchester; his stepchildren, Pam Pritchard, Patty York and Penny Sychtysz; his siblings, James Short, Kenneth (Helen) Short, and Cyrilla Thurston, along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

In addition to his parents, Edwin was predeceased by his sons, Edwin "Bunky" Short Jr. and Harold "Buddy" Short and his stepson, Peter Russell Jr.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Terrace staff at the Commons for their kindness, compassion and care for Ed during his stay. 

Services for Ed will be held privately for family. 

Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
