Elizabeth Badran Obituary

Elizabeth J. Badran, 96, of Englewood Florida and formerly of Auburn New York passed away on December 16, 2025.  Born in the Town of Ledyard, she was the daughter of the late John & Margaret Fitzpatrick McCandrew.  Betty attended Emily Howland Elementary and Union Springs High School prior to settling in Auburn.  She and her husband, Joseph Badran, were married on June 18, 1949 at St. Hyacinth's Church where she remained a parishioner until her passing.  They were blessed with one daughter Margaret Badran Smith who was the joy of their lives.

Betty was employed at the Home Dairy in her younger years and then worked at  W.T. Grant Department Store for 19 years until its closing. She retired from  K-Mart on Grant Avenue in Auburn. She cherished time spent with her family and friends, and during her retirement years she always looked forward to their weekly phone calls and visits to Florida.  She loved to bake and never failed to have pastries, her specialty banana bread and coffee on hand for visitors.  In addition to baking she loved to follow politics and read. Her beautiful smile, great personality, sense of humor, kindness and love will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving daughter Margaret Badran Smith,  her grandchildren Jeffrey (Chandra) Smith, Christine (Scott) Hayden,  great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, #1 Godchild Patricia Weston, and many dear friends.  She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joseph Badran, her son-in law Ronald F. Smith, and siblings Helen Feneck, Dorothy Gabak & Francis McCandrew.   Her family would like to acknowledge and thank her niece Carol deLeon and her husband Dr. Ramon deLeon for their support and assistance during Betty's illness.
