Frederick F. Stowell

Frederick F. Stowell, 85 passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at his home in Port Byron. Born February 1, 1938 in Union Springs, he was the son of the late Charles and Josephine Bielawski Stowell. Following his high school graduation, Fred enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged November 4, 1958. He was employed as a mechanic after discharge and later worked as a Property Claims Manager for Allstate Insurance Company. After his retirement in 1994, Fred enjoyed spending time with his family, farming soybeans, restoring antique tractors, and tinkering with odds and ends around the farm.

He is survived by his daughter, Jamie (Patrick) Washburn; his grandchildren, Nicole Washburn, Allison Washburn, Brian K. Stowell and Carrie Whyte; his 8 siblings, Theresa Giles, Bernice Prosser, Arlene Wallace, John (Joyce) Stowell, Joseph (Eileen) Stowell, Leonard Stowell, Ronald (Marty) Stowell and Rita (Jay) Bronson; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Vonnie Arliss Stowell, in June of this year; and his son, Brian F. Stowell in 2021. 

A memorial service will he held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11:30am in the White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive Weedsport NY.  A post-funeral reception will immediately follow the services at Potters Farm to Fork Restaurant, 1951 NY31, Port Byron.
