Gary R. Hurd

Gary R. Hurd, 67, the husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Hurd of Shepherd Road, Weedsport, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at his home. Born in Auburn, May 25, 1957, he was the son of the late Frank and Elaine Wilson Hurd, and lived his life in the area. Gary was an avid fan of NASCAR, lover of dogs and, of course, enjoyed operating his own skid-steer. Above all else, he looked forward to, and cherished the time spent with his entire, adoring family.  

In addition to his loving wife Betty Sharp Hurd, Gary is survived by his four sons Allen Hurd (Jennifer), Greg Hurd (Jessica), Craig Hurd (Holly) and Scott Hurd (Brandi); grandchildren Alec, Natalie, Kaitlynn, Collin, Olivia, Trevor, Jacob, Abby, Caleb and Noah; brothers Frank Hurd and Richard Hurd; sisters Darlene Smith (Russell), Deborah Hurd and Karen Hurd; five step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Gary was predeceased by his parents; daughter Meghan; brother Steven; and mother and father-in-law Louis and Myrtle Sharp. 

Calling hours will be conducted Friday, July 12, 2024 from 4 to 7pm in the White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive, Weedsport. A funeral service will be offered Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Throop.
