Gene R. Dedrick 72, of Port Byron, died Friday August 3, 2018. Surrounded by his loving family, Gene died at his home on Centerport Road
Early Friday morning following a battle with cancer.
Born April 29, 1946 in Auburn, he was a graduate of port Byron High School. Gene cared deeply about his community and served on the
Town of Mentz Zoning Board, Planning Board, as a Town Councilman. He Served as both the Deputy and Superintendent of the Mentz
Highway Department for many years as well as care taker of the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Gene had previously worked as a
Union Mason, and was Chairman of the Town’s Democratic Committee.
He enjoyed his time spent with family, and hunting and fishing.
Gene is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gail Redmond Dedrick, a daughter, Tracey (Jeff) Lippert of Clyde, three sons, Twins, Duane (Michelle M.) Dedrick of
Camillus, and Christopher (Michelle R.) Dedrick of Throop, and Clint (Laurie) Dedrick of Port Byron, 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Predeceasing Mr. Dedrick, was his mother, Elizabeth Walters Dedrick and a brother, Donald Dedrick.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday in The Port Byron Federated Church on Tex pultz Parkway. Burial will be in Mt. pleasant Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on the Dedrick family Monday from 4 to 8 at White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Dr. Weedsport.
