Georgia C Spingler

Georgia C. Spingler, 88 formerly of Weedsport, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at The Commons on St. Anthony. Born in Auburn on December 9, 1934, Georgia was the daughter of the late Ernest and Marcia Farrant Cady.

 After graduating from high school, Georgia worked as a secretary with the Home Bureau in Auburn, and later worked as a teacher aid for the Weedsport School District.

Georgia was a former member of the Weedsport Baptist Church, where she shared her musical talents playing both the organ and piano, as well as singing in the choir. In more recent years, she attended Weedsport United Methodist Church and continued her singing in their choir as well as attending bible study. She also enjoyed knitting in their prayer shawl group. In earlier years, Geogia put her time and love into sewing and knitting for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and shopping with her sister, Amy Lou. In addition to spending time with family, many wonderful memories were made with her husband at the Moravia Pony Racing Club and their winters spent in Florida.

Georgia is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Mark) Riester; her sons, Ronald (Judy) Spingler and Jim (Mary Jane) Spingler; her grandchildren, Jason, Rob and Sarah Riester, Eric (Cheri) Zizza, Emily (Chris) Herndon, Courtney (Tom) Johnston-Smith, Gavin Johnston, Courtney Spingler, Jessica (Brian) Jayne and Katelyn (Kalan) Kent; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

 In addition to her parents, Georgia was predeceased by her husband, Bruce Spingler; and her sisters, Shirley Sutcliffe and Amy Lou Hinman; as well as several brother and sister in laws.

 A graveside service will be held in Weedsport Rural Cemetery on Friday, October 6th at 10:00am.
