Homer Ernst Rice, 62, of Auburn, passed away surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of his home on September 21, 2025. Born in Colorado on April 6, 1963, Homer was the son of the late Homer and Annemarie Lehmann Rice.
He proudly served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves from 1981-2003. From the mid 2000's until 2016, Homer was the owner and operator of AAMCO Transmissions in Auburn. Most recently Homer was employed with Bo-Mer Plastics as a technician. He was a mechanic and very much enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. He was also an avid Cowboys fan. Homer was very family oriented and appreciated nothing more than spending time with his loved ones. He was a selfless man and would do anything for anyone in need.
Homer is survived by his companion, Dawn Conway; his children, Homer (Ivy) Rice, Nicholas (Hannah) Rice, Matt Conway, Mike (Emily) Conway and Jennie (Mark) Zanelli; his grandchildren; his siblings, Sandy Rice, Sindy Dudzinski, Reiner Rice and Linda Rice, along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Homer will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6pm - 8pm in White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Hospice of the Finger Lakes.
