Jacqueline S. "Jackie" O'Connell, 70 of Jericho Road, Weedsport passed away Wednesday evening, April 10, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Auburn September 23, 1953, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Walters Gridley. Jackie was a member of the class of 1971, the first graduating class of Auburn High School and was employed with Welch Allyn, retiring after 35 years of faithful service. Jackie enjoyed bonfires, boating with her lake family in Cayuga, dancing, and karaoke. She was an avid animal lover, which made working on the O'Connell Family Farm an enjoyable experience. Jackie loved to travel both throughout the United States as well as to tropical islands to enjoy their white sandy beaches, making it to 20 different states, New Orleans was by far her favorite. Above all, her family meant the world to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her husband John O'Connell III of Weedsport; two daughters Erin O'Connell (Scott Hildebrant) of Jordan and Danielle Darby (Paul) of Liverpool; two grandchildren Ava Hildebrant and Landon Darby; sister Kathleen Sliwka of Auburn; brother John Gridley II (Cynthia Kalar) of Auburn; in-laws Craig O'Connell (Donna) of Memphis, Tim O'Connell (Christine) of Weedsport, Mike O'Connell (Kim) of Weedsport and Colleen Jones (Dwayne) of Sennett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours for Jackie will be conducted Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00pm in the White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn. Contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
