James Gansz Obituary

James V. 'Jimmy' Gansz, 68, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes at his residence on April 17, 2025. Born in Auburn, NY, he was the son of the late Vernon G. and Irma E. (Scott) Gansz.

Jimmy was a graduate of Union Springs Central School. His life passion was

working as a Lineman with IBEW 1249 in Syracuse, NY for 46 years, working throughout the country. On May 8, 2023, he married Coreen E.

(Flynn) Gansz in Colorado. James was a member of the Cayuga Methodist Church. He was an avid NASCAR Racing fan and loved driving cars and trucks. Jimmy enjoyed good food, listening to music and loved nature and the great outdoors. He was looking forward to his upcoming class of 1975, SO-year reunion. James was very humorous and will be remembered for his big smile and gregarious laugh.

In addition to his wife, Coreen, James is survived by his daughter, Tricia Gansz, stepdaughter, Courtney Flynn, siblings, Patricia (late William) Cass, MaryBeth (Michael) Pethybridge, and Amy (Dennis) Walowsky, his mother-in-law, Sally Hassell, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial will be held on July 12, 2025, at 12 Noon at Lakeview Cemetery, Cayuga, NY. All are welcome to join us for the memorial and picnic lunch to follow at the North Pavilion in Frontenac Park in Union Springs, NY.
