James R House

James R. House, 75, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2025, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse NY. Born in Gouverneur, NY on September 4, 1949, James was the son of the late Arthur and Beatrice (Booth) House. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and truly enjoyed his work. James was a devout member of Auburn Alliance Church and was very involved in the church activities. Along with his good friend, PJ Barner, James played gospel music in the community, singing and playing the violin. 

James is survived by his children, Joanne Sanford, Charles (Jennifer) House and James (Casey Derby) House; his stepchildren, Elizabeth Lasagna, Gary Pashley, Harold Pashley, Christopher (Amy) Roth; his siblings, Robert (Kathy Rushia) House, Ruth (Larry) Pratt, Allen House and Steven (Polly) House; his grandchildren, Tammy Quimby, Ryan Sanford, Samantha Whitt, Matthew Sanford, Dakota Sanford, Emilee House, Megan House, Tyler House, Alyssa House, Geena House, Chase House, Jackson Galka, Marisa House and Sophie House; his great grandchildren, Arlyn Quimby, Bradly McCool, Serenity Sanford, Lauren Sanford, Dominic Whitt and Abigail Sanford, along with many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen House; his stepson, Jay Wright and his siblings, David House, Nancy Winch and Jean Easton. 

Calling hours for James will be held on Friday February 28th from 12pm -2pm in Auburn Alliance Church, 630 N. Seward Ave, Auburn, NY. A funeral service will follow at 2pm in the church.
