James Spinelli Obituary

 

James Spinelli, 84, of Cottage St. Auburn, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019, at the Matthew House.

Mr. Spinelli was born in Auburn on July 18, 1934 to the late George and Louise DeMassi Spinelli Sr.. James proudly served his country with the United States Navy as Mate 1st Class on the USS Iowa from  1951-1955. He continued serving his country as Specialist 4th Class 82nd Airborne with the United States Army from 1958-1961. After 20 plus years of employment, Mr. Spinelli retired from Sylvania in Seneca Falls. James enjoyed listening to classical music, and was an avid Bass fisherman.  He loved the time he spent with his son Marty, especially when the two of them went fishing together.

James is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Roseann Martino Spinelli; his son Martin Spinelli and his wife Meridith; his brother, George Spinelli Jr. and his wife Karen; his sisters, Gloria DeMarco and Barbara Manzone; his grandchildren, Amber, Tyler and Ashlyn Olson; his great grandchildren, Blake, Melanie and Lily Olson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, John and Michael Spinelli; and his grandson Jacob Spinelli.

Funeral Services will be held 11am on Friday, June 7th in St. Mary’s Church, 15 Clark St. Auburn. Visitation will be held prior from 10am -10:45am in the church.

In lieu of flowers donations in Mr. Spinelli’s  memory may be made to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Dr. Auburn, NY 13021 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital  501 St. Jude Place  Memphis, TN 38105;  donors@st.jude.org
