James W. Wiers

James W. Wiers, 77 of Weedsport passed away Monday, February 16, 2026 in Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Syracuse on July 17, 1948, he was the son of the late Edwin and Violet Husted Wiers. James enjoyed woodworking and spending his time outdoors, taking care of the property on his zero-turn mower. He loved watching old westerns on television, listening to country music and, most importantly, cherished the time spent with his family and grandchildren. 

He is survived by his loving wife Eloise Clapper Wiers of 57 years; daughters Lisa Gagne (Matthew Cowell) and Michelle Schafer (David); sons James Jr. (Marilyn), Thomas (Jane), Keith (Tina) and Robert; siblings Judy Greczyn (Steve), Richard, Robert, Luther and William Wiers; and  grandchildren, Amy, Cody, Chad, Derek, Aaron, Andrea, Landon, Ariana,  Jonathan, Shaughn, Cory; great grandchildren Octavia, Elijah, Emma and Patrick and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, James is predeceased by one son Christopher Wiers; sisters Bernice Crossman, Linda Rowley; brothers Donald, Thomas and Charles Wiers; and very special niece Peggy Gordon.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11th, 2026 at the Sennett Fire Hall, 3526 Franklin St. Road. Arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home, Weedsport.
