James (Bill) Eckett, 86, of Throop formally of Auburn NY passed away November 23, 2024.
Bill was born in Auburn,NY on December 21, 1937. The son of the late James and Agnus Eckett. He served his country in the Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer in the Coast Guard Reserve Port Security Unit.
Bill was formally employed by Alco Products and retired from the GE/PowerEx plant as a Lead Guard over the Plant Security. In addition,
he worked for McQuay International. In is retirement years he had worked part-time for Ludwiskoski Associates as a Vendor Rep.for hunting and sporting dog equipment.
Bill was also an avid deer and wild turkey hunter. He was a member of White Tails Unlimited, The National Wild Turkey Foundation, New York Bowhunters, and Falcon Sports Club.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Ann Marie (Eckett) Barnes and Margaret (Peggy Eckett) and Bob Weston of Arizona; daughter-in-law, Becky Eckett; brother, Ronald L. Eckett of Throop; sister-in-law Dolores (Deliz) Elice of Florida; brother-in-law, Bob Deliz; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife Maggie (Deliz) Eckett; son, William (Billy) Eckett; brother, Edward (Ted) Eckett; sister, Marcia (Eckett) Smith; sister-in-law, Sue Eckett; brother-in-law, James H. Smith and son-in-law, James P. Barnes.
He will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Throop Volunteer Fire Department and the SPCA of Central New York.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 29, 2024, from 11am-noon at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St Auburn. Services will immediately follow at noon in the funeral home.
Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Auburn.
