Janet E. Kennedy Morath, 89, the widow of the late John Morath, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in Auburn Community Hospital. Born June 23, 1934 in the Bronx, she was the daughter of the late John and Isabella Morton Kennedy. Janet and John were married in 1957 and lived in Weedsport most of their lives. She was employed with Weedsport Schools as a lunch monitor and always loved giving her students hugs. Janet enjoyed drawing and art, as well as watching the birds from her kitchen window. She loved spending time with her family, including her pets Bear, Bean and Burton.
She is survived by one daughter, Dawn Morath of Union Springs; two sons, John Morath and his wife Carol of Cato and Andrew Morath of Union Springs; one sister, Mary Crane of Florida; grandchildren, Daphne Pople, John Morath II, Josh Winks and Chealse Morath; several great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, John, Janet was predeceased by three sisters, Isabella Mehner, Gerry Vinning, and Jackie Voss.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Janet’s wonderful caregivers: Susan, Alicia, Michelle and Rebecca. She loved you all very dearly. Also, a special thank you to the amazing staff of 3rd Memorial at Auburn Community Hospital for their exceptional care.
Friends are invited to visit with the family, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 4 to 5 PM in White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn. A funeral service will follow immediately at 5 PM, in the funeral home.
