Jean (Houghtaling) Francisco

Jean Houghtaling Francisco, 92, formerly of Weedsport, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at her home in Liverpool, NY. Born in Lyons, NY. July 9, 1931, Jean was the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy Dates Houghtaling. She was a 1949 graduate of Red Creek Central Schools. Jean was employed as a secretary for the Red Creek Central School District. She later retired as the Clerk for the Town of Brutus and the Town Court. Jean was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Weedsport, NY. She was also active with the LaBuff Cole Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 911 in Cato, NY. Jean enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, playing cards and watching Syracuse University Athletics. Above all, Jean cherished the time spent with family, attending her children and grandchildren’s sports and activities. She will be missed for her smile, upbeat personality, but mostly for her kind nature and love she showed as a wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Gerald Francisco; and two sisters, Shirley Rose and Joan Houghtaling. She is survived by her three children, Jeff Francisco (Terryann) of Brewerton, Laurie Berthold (Gary) of Wolcott and John Francisco (Chris) of Brewerton; grandchildren Bryce Leitten, Juno Francisco, Evan Francisco and US Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Maria Francisco; one sister Mary Lancaster of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Parkrose Estates in Liverpool. They would also like to thank the medical professionals who helped take care of her over the years.

Calling hours for Jean will be held Friday, March 22, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the White Chapel Funeral Home, 2709 Erie Drive, Weedsport, NY. A service in the funeral home will be offered immediately following calling hours at Noon. Spring interment will take place in the Weedsport Rural Cemetery.
