Joan B. Large, 91, of Auburn passed away on April 11th, 2026. Born on June 30th, 1934, in Fayetteville, NY, Joan was the daughter of the late Vancort Emmett and Eleanor (Taisey) Emmett Pacini.
Joan was a beloved family member and dear friend. She had a song in her heart and could always be heard humming a joyful tune. Joan loved God, her family, prayer, the ocean and thrift shops! She became an ordained minister while living in Florida. After returning to NY to be close to family, Joan joined the congregation of First Love Ministries, where she became an intercessory prayer partner and co-laborer in the 'Healing Room'.
Joan was a talented interior designer; she could decorate any space and could always put together the perfect outfit for any occasion. Anyone that knew Joan, knows that she had a remarkable gift for “making everything beautiful. “
Joan is survived by her children; Wendy (Scott) Young, Craig (Sharon) Schwarz, Eleanor (Daniel) Mahaney, Susan (Mark) Garrigan, Stephen (Tina) Large, and Gary (Karen) Large; her brothers, Steve Emmett, of Beverly Beach, Florida and Anthony Pacini, of Cayuga, NY; and many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her brother, Gary Emmett, during the Vietnam War, and her sister, Kristine Voorhees Emmett, of Florida.
A graveside service will be held 11:30 am on Saturday, May 30th at Lakeview Cemetery 6245 West Lake Road Auburn, NY.
