John Joseph Bristol, 71, known as "Jack" or "Blob", passed away Friday, March 13, 2026. He was born in Auburn on January 8, 1955, the son of the late
John "Bebs" and Josephine Fantasia Bristol. Jack was a graduate of Port Byron Central School Class of 1973 and was an excellent athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. He retired from NYS Dept. Of Corrections as an Engineer after 30 plus years of service in Auburn. Jack was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, and was well known for socializing at Snapper's and the UNC Club.
He is survived by his siblings, Mary Jo Bristol (John), David Bristol, Thomas "Bomber" Bristol (Donna), Kathleen Bristol Cunningham; nephews, David Bristol II, Christopher, Nicholas, Michael (Ellie) Hargreaves, Garrett Cunningham (Stella) and Kevin Cunningham; niece Stacy Ritts (Nick).
Jack was especially close to his Aunt and Uncle Homer and Frances Bristol, and their son Gary. He is also survived by Cousins Karen Bristol Dwyer, Laurie Bristol Brown and Paula Bristol Weeks; his Aunt Philly Fantasia Matro and many cousins and friends.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life to be conducted Sunday, June 14 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the UNC, 125 Washington Street, Auburn.
Arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home, Weedsport.
