John D. Hanley

John D Hanley, 60, of Moravia passed away on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at Auburn Community Hospital. John was born May 8th, 1965, to the late Francis and Sylvia Hanley.

John from a very young age always had a love for engines. He was always elbows deep in a project, and this led to his passion and dream of becoming a mechanic. John loved to twist wrenches, and some of the best times were with his good friend, Jerry Verbeck. Anyone who knew John knows he loved to make people laugh. He was always cracking jokes whenever he could. A moment John will always treasure was being able to attend his son’s wedding in 2022. John told his son on that day how proud he was of the man and father he has become.

John is survived by his son, Randy (Melissa) Hanley of Auburn and daughter Mariah Hanley of Moravia, sister, Michele (Tim) Kahabka of Moravia and sister Sue Hanley of Pennsylvania. Nieces, Kristy Kahabka of Morrisville and Kim Kahabka of Florida. Grandchildren Robert and Maeven of Auburn.

John is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Sylvia Hanley.

A celebration of life will be held in honor of John to share the good memories of his lifetime.
