John E. Millas

John E Millas, 72, of Columbia, NC passed away peacefully at his home overlooking the beautiful Albemarle Sound with family by his side, on February 1, 2025. 

Born and raised in Auburn, NY, John was the son of the late James and Jane Millas. He was a graduate of Auburn High School class of 1971. John worked for E.D. Clapp for many years and later worked for NYSDOCS as a prison guard relocating south. 

John was a lifelong, and avid Buffalo Bills fan of 60+ years and proud of it! He enjoyed fishing and his life he built with his wife Patricia in Columbia. They could often be seen driving his golf cart in the neighborhood or looking out at the sound waiting for a dolphin to swim, by with his trusty dachshund "Buddy" by his side. 

He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Millas of Columbia NC; daughters Taryn (Martin) Homick and Johanna (Gregory) Lattimore of Auburn, NY; stepdaughter Marisa (Robert) Gillen of New Bern, NC; 3 grandchildren that made him proud everyday, Mitchell Homick, Audrey, and Emme Lattimore; his faithful canine companion Buddy, as well as extended family. 

Services will be private. Interment will be in Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
