Jon W. Bovard

Jon W. Bovard, 78, of Port Byron passed away June 20, 2021 at Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Syracuse on July 5, 1942, Jon was the son of the late John and Helen Jessy Bovard. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962-1970. Jon graduated from Hobart in 1962 with a bachelor's degree. He and his wife, Margaret, were married on October 15, 1977 in St. Lucy's Church in Syracuse. He retired as a supervisor from Onondaga County Social Service with over 36 years of employment and also taught AARP defensive driving for over 10 years. His "claim to fame" was singing the National Anthem at his high school graduation, solo. Jon was a train buff, with an impressive collection of trains. He enjoyed his interactions with family, friends and strangers, always saying "anyone is worth 5 minutes of my time".

Jon is survived by his wife, Margaret Bowes Bovard; his son, Mark (Nicole) Bovard and grandson Michael Bovard.

A gathering will be held on Monday, July 5th from 1-3 pm in White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive, Weedsport, where friends and family can come to share their stories and celebrate Jon's life.
