Joseph ‘Joey’ Richard William Garrigan, 48, passed away unexpectedly September 24, 2025. Born in Auburn, NY on May 19, 1977, he grew up in Port Byron, NY and was most recently residing in Florida.
He spent his all too short, but impactful life doing what he loved, working with his hands in construction. He was a jack of all trades; had a heart of pure gold and the type of guy you wanted in your corner. Loyal to the end. You may have seen a piece of scrap laying in the yard but the potential he saw was always so much more. Material items meant very little to him, appreciating more the authentic things he could create himself. His best accomplishments in life were his two sons. He was always working to be a better version of himself for them.
He is survived by his sons, Zachary (Allison) Garrigan and Joseph Garrigan; his faithful 4-legged companion, Duke; 2 grandchildren, Emery and Tucker Garrigan; sister LeeAnn (Chris) Nolte; ex-wife Tina Garrigan; bonus children Rory and Megan Larocque and Chelsey Sponable. In addition to his immediate family, he has many aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins who were so special to him.
He is predeceased by his mother, Linda Deville; stepfather, Stephen Deville; and uncles, William and James Garrigan.
In true Joey fashion, with his heart of gold, he gave the gift of life through organ, tissue and eye donation. Our family looks forward to hearing of the recipients he was able to help. There will be a celebration of life in New York at a later date.
“Goodbyes hurt the most, when the story was not finished.”
