Joseph G. VanHorn, 95 of Auburn passed away Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Commons on St. Anthony. Mr. VanHorn was born in Skaneateles, NY on August 31, 1930, to the late George F. and Laura Parish VanHorn. For over 50 years Joe owned and operated Joe's Hair Styling in Meridian, NY, and was also a bus driver for Cato - Meridian. He loved bingo and trips to the casino. He took pride in gardening and enjoyed crafting, painting and completing his puzzles. Joe loved life and was always ready to have a good time.
Joseph is survived by his loving children, Tom (Kim) VanHorn and Michelle (Joseph) Bonanno; his siblings, Oliver (Shari) VanHorn, Harold VanHorn and Beulah Cavanaugh; his beloved grandchildren, Kaylee VanHorn, Nicholas VanHorn, Joey Bonanno and Andrew Bonanno; one great-granddaughter, Kova; sisters-in-law, Anne VanHorn and Penny VanHorn Santoro; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his good friends, Mary House, Joan Murphy as well as the many friends he made at the Boyle Center and The Commons.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife, Sandra Martin VanHorn; his brothers, Charles, George, James, Gerald and Earl VanHorn; his sister-in-law, Dorothy VanHorn; his nephews, Steve and Doug VanHorn; and his lifelong friend Bob Scott.
A funeral service will be held on May 2nd at 10:00am located at Meridian Baptist Church 11293 Church Street, Cato, NY.
