Joseph "Joe" Saville

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph "Joe" Saville announce his passing on March 30, 2026, after a valiant battle against colon cancer. Joe was born in Auburn, New York on May 19, 1971 to the late Harry and Sharon (Weed) Saville.

Joe's life was one of great service to others, both in his careers, and throughout many communities. After attending Auburn High School, Joe joined Fleming #1 Fire Department in 1989, becoming an interior firefighter and New York State Emergency Medical Technician. Just one year later, Joe followed in the footsteps of many of his family members and answered the call to serve our country, becoming a member of the United States Coast Guard. While a Coast Guardsman, Joe served aboard cutter Mallow in Honolulu, HI through March of 1994.

In 2005, Joe chose to serve his country again, this time as a United States Custom and Border Protection agent, beginning a 20+ year career in law enforcement. At the time of his death, Joe had climbed the ranks and become a Supervisory Marine Interdiction Agent in the Air and Marine Operations division, assigned to the Rochester office. Early in his long career, Joe served as a K-9 handler in the Philadelphia, PA Office of Field Operations amongst many other interagency roles. His career was defined by a strong work ethic, a unique talent for forming relationships, and a desire to help all who crossed his path. Joe's selfless service and complete dedication in everything he did will never be forgotten. 

Though his profession kept him very busy, in 2020 Joe began a very successful E-commerce business. 5507 West rapidly expanded, as did Joe's connections and friends in the business world.

In his off time, you could find Joe enjoying life his own way. Whether that be spending time on his boat with his daughters, fishing with his best friend Pat, or going to get ice cream on a warm summer night. Joe's favorite time of year was late August, when the New York State Fair came around, and he was able to enjoy his favorite foods and good music. As many will attest, Joe had an extraordinary ability to make friends, and he seldom found himself in a place where he didn't know someone. He had a rare gift for conversation, able to connect with anyone about anything, so when that rare occasion did occur, it was only a matter of time before a stranger became a friend.

Surviving are Joe's beloved wife Beth Locastro Saville; and his beautiful nineteen-year-old twin daughters, Berkley and Emerson, who he was so proud of. In addition to his immediate family, Joe is survived by many dear friends; including Patrick Morrissey and Ron Hope; a multitude of cousins; most especially Amelia and Adisen Weed, and Melissa Leader; aunts, uncles; and family too numerous to name.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Sharon (Weed) Saville, and his Uncle Tom Weed, with whom he shared an exceptional bond.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to those involved with Joe's care, most especially the staff on 7A at Upstate University Hospital, and the entire team at Upstate Cancer Center at Auburn Community Hospital.

Calling hours will be conducted on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, and again from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 90 Melrose Road, Auburn, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 11:00am, in Sacred Heart Church. Arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., Auburn.
