Joy (Olney) Stone went home to Our Lord on Aug. 5, 2018.
Joy was born May 4, 1930 in Marcellus to Leslie and Nada Olney. She was a graduate of Marcellus High School and CCBI. She moved to Auburn in 1954 and lived at 66 Fleming St., until becoming a resident of Huntington Living Center in 2014.
Joy was devoted to her husband of 60 years, Karlton Stone; her two children and their spouses, Patricia and the late Stephen Androsko, and Kenneth and Patricia (Wawro) Stone. She adored her four grandchildren, Matthew Androsko, Timothy, Meghan, and Peter Stone; as well as her five great-grandchildren. Joy is survived by her children; daughter-in-law; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Richards, of Skaneateles; sister-in-law, Nan Onley; brother-in-law, Byron Stone; 15 nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her husband; son-in-law; brothers, Leslie and Harold; several brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nephews, and a niece.
Joy was hard working and a joyful soul. She helped persons in need in many ways. Her home was open for a place to sleep or eat, and her actions spoke louder than her words. She also volunteered for children organizations and at First Presbyterian Church. Joy loved to cook and to dance.
Our family gives special thanks to the Huntington staff for the excellent, personal care you gave to mom. God has gifted you all as compassionate caregivers.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, with a memorial service to immediately follow at 11 a.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn. Burial will follow in Soule Cemetery, Auburn.
Charitable donations may be made to Office of the Aging Alzheimer’s Program, 160 Genesee St., Auburn, NY 13021.
